division of cancer cells

In the body, each type of cell multiplies at a well-defined rhythm e.g.: some skin cells multiply every 8 hours, red blood cells every 110 to 119 days, nerve cells never multiply ... every minute, 200 million of cells are born!
In some cases, cells multiply uncontrollably and rapidly: they are then cancer cells. They become invasive, can form a tumor, gradually destroy the tissues and organs where they have appeared and then spread to form other tumors. The risk of cancer depends on heredity, environment (pollution, virus ...), and behavior (exposure to the sun without protection, tobacco, poor nutrition ...).

Several anti-cancer treatments (chemotherapy) prevent the mitotic spindle retraction during mitosis.
